Birds in Space

Moxie Fab World, Cath Edvaldson's blog, has a Birds challenge this week.

Create a paper crafted project that incorporates a bird of any type, but it must also include a "space" in which one is likely to find birds.

This card features the OBP stamp "Al in Space", so it fits the wording of the challenge, though probably not the spirit.

The perfect paper is from a little pad by Inque Stamps, now defunct. The owl was colored with Copic Markers, then I used some dimensional glue over the helmet, though I doubt you can see it from the scan. I added Stickles to the little stars for some bling because these days a card is not complete without some sparkly accent. Finally, I added the sentiment with white rub-ons. The OBP space stuff is perfect for me since I'm so spacy, which seems to be getting worse with age. Scary thought, that. Eh?

Anyways, thanks for visiting.

Mardi Gras!

Ha! I got my Mardi Gras card posted just in the nick o' time, though there's still another hour in New Orleans.

The card uses a stamp from the "Man's Ruin" set by Bombshell Stamps. I love this set! The focal image was colored with my Copic Markers and accented with glitter and Spica pens. I used my trusty Dymo labeler to add the sentiment.

Get Well Card

My father fell and broke his arm, so I made him a card.

I used OBP's Le Bandit Left and colored him with Copic Markers. The background was chalked. I used some old, but much loved Cosmo Cricket patterned paper, my Dymo Labeler, and some gauze strips.

Valentine's Day Card & Gift!

These were both created for my daughter, who I usually refer to as "The Freshman". I had to get them in the mail to her so that she could get them today, since they don't receive mail on Saturdays, which is a pita. Anyways, she got them and says that she likes them (and the contents of the gift box), so I'm free to post them now!

The box and card feature stamped images from the "Love and Luck" (roses, barbed wire) and the "Man's Ruin" sets from Bombshell Stamps (the skull).

I colored all images with my Copic Markers, then shabbed them up with Distress Ink, and sanded the edges of the panels. I highlighted parts of the rose stamps with black glitter pen and used a silver Pentel pen on the barbed wire. Alas, when I sealed the box with decoupage glue, the ink from the markers and the glitter pen ran a bit. The box also photographed oddly due to the gloss finish. The box is more uniform in color and way less white in person. I scanned the card since the photo was blurry.

Fun things to note are that I stamped the barbed wire on grosgrain ribbon, which was then colored with with the silver pen. I found the doily at the supermarket and had to buy a pack. I'm sure I'll use 'em.

The gift box contained heart shaped candy, a gift card, and a silver charm. She liked all of that too. Yay.

Sorry I'm late... but I'm back!

Yikes! It's been almost a month since my last post. As the card says, "My Life's Been a Circus!". So true.

I got really busy the last few weeks of January getting the freshman ready to go back to college, cleaning house, getting ready for a big SuperBowl party, and implementing a work out routine. Crafting time, or more precisely scanning and blogging time, sort of fell by the wayside. Blurfing fell along there as well.

However, I'm back, my mojo's back, and I really will try to stay on top of things both with the blog and blurfing!

This card uses Odd Bird Planet's Wide Tent and "Sorry I'm Late. My Life's a Circus!". I colored the tent scene with Copic Markers. The sky was added with chalk and a cloud template (though a piece of torn paper works as well). The paper is from the Oh Baby! Boy collection by Basic Grey, which is one of my favorites of theirs. I must get more! I added a few gemstones to add a bit of bling!

Meanwhile, you might want to check out Odd Bird Planet's "Limited Edition Kit" sale. These include a sheet of unmounte stamps plus paper, cardstock, clip art, and assorted embellishments. Good deals are to be had on these goodies! Woo-hoo.
